Gibraltar … the controversial British territory that looks more like Seville than Sevenoaks

Gibraltar pillar box (George VI)

A typical British Royal Mail red pillar box along Gibraltar’s Main Street. Most found in Gibraltar carry King George VI’s cipher (initials and crown symbol), not his reigning daughter Queen Elizabeth’s. This is because Royal Mail pillar boxes are not usually replaced on the death of a monarch, and so Gibraltar’s post boxes have remained unchanged since the 1940s
