With the Jubilee celebrations now over and the Trooping of the Colour done for another year, Horse Guards Parade, The Mall and most of St James’s Park are now closed to the Public. This is so the Beach Volleyball Olympic venue, to which (adopt smug tone) I have tickets for (feel free to read my Olympic Tickets post) can be built in the area in time for next month’s games.
But without Horse Guards Parade, where on earth do the Queen’s Guards go to march? At lunchtime today they resorted to using the nearby streets:

They weren’t playing ‘God Save the Queen’ as I guess they’ve had plenty of practice performing that on over the past few weeks

Did the soldier on the far right forget to pack his beret this morning? Or is he marching with the wrong troop?
I hope Birdcage Walk doesn’t become one of those special Olympic traffic lanes next month, otherwise these boys may not be allowed to march up and down it.
